If Musa Mohammed Awwal, one of the editors of the Kaduna-based Al-Mizan newspaper, had any plans of celebrating this year’s Valentine’s Day with his family, he had only wasted his time in drawing up such plans because the State Security Service (SSS) had other plans for him.

Awwal was woken from sleep around 4am today by the SSS and whisked away to an unknown destination.

“He was abducted again by security agents today at 4am,” said a family source who spoke with News Express.

It would be recalled that Awwal was first abducted by the SSS around 4am last December 21 alongside his Al-Mizan colleague Aliyu Saleh after the Kaduna-based Hausa Language newspaper published a story alleging that operatives of the Joint Task Force (JTF) had rounded up 86 youths in Potiskum, Yobe State.

They were released on January 1 following pressure, including from the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).

News Express learnt that Awwal’s employers are preparing statement on his latest ordeal.
