Police arraign 2 over alleged N1.7m generator parts theft

The police on Thursday in Lagos arraigned two men – Abdul-hammed Olamide and Musa Yisa – who allegedly stole Mikano generator spare parts valued N1.7 million.

Olamide, 27, and Yisa, 35, are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing, before an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court. They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Mary Ajiteru told the court that the defendants committed the offences on Dec. 30, 2019. at Lucky area of Ikorodu.

Ajiteru said that the defendants conspired and stole 25KVA Mikano generator spare parts belonging to one Mr Tobun Yewande. He said that the offences contravened sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 411 provides for two years’ imprisonment for conspiracy while stealing is punishable with three years’ jail term under Section 287.

The Magistrate, Mr O.M. Dowodu, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N300, 000 each with two sureties each in like sum. Dowodu adjourned the case until Aug. 8 for mention.
