Septuagenarian docked over alleged N150,000 fraud

Ibadan, March 2, 2026 (NAN) The police on Monday, dragged a 71-year-old man, Isaac Kosodo, before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, over alleged N150,000 fraud.

Kosodo, whose address was not provided, is standing trial on a charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretense.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecutor, Insp. Olalekan Adegbite, told the court that the defendant committed the offence sometime in January, at Elebu area of Ibadan.

He alleged that the defendant obtained the sum of N150, 000 from a complainant one Mr Seyi Odufuwa,with a promise to give him an open space to erect his furniture workshop.

The prosecutor alleged that the defendant failed to keep to his words after collecting the money.

He said that the offence contravenes the provisions of section 419 of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Mrs Kausarat Ayofe granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.

The court held that the surety must be a blood relation of the defendant.

She adjourned the case until April 27, for hearing. (NAN)
